BECAUSE YOUR BODY IS A TEMPLE...
What is Naturopathy?
Naturopathy is science based, incorporating clinical nutrition, botanical medicine, exercise therapy and lifestyle counseling. Naturopathy maintains that the body can heal itself if it is given the right circumstances and conditions. It promotes wellness by identifying the unique aspects of each client, employing non-toxic natural therapies to restore physiological, psychological and structural balance. It uses the healing power of the body to help restore / rebalance you to good health. It focuses on identifying and resolving underlying causes of dis-ease rather than just attempting to suppress symptoms.
Naturopaths typically see three types of clients:

Naturopaths typically see three types of clients:
- Clients with a pre-diagnosed health condition that are seeking natural alternatives to help treat or better manage their condition via nutrition and lifestyle modifications.
- Clients with a chronic/auto-immune condition that does not respond well to conventional medicine that are seeking guidance in improving their health so reliance on allopathic pharmaceuticals may be lessened. This includes but is not limited to: fatigue, low mood, anxiety, weight problems and digestive disorders, pain, sleep disturbance, poor immunity, and low sex drive.
- Clients that are in general good health but would like to be assessed for any nutrient imbalances and/or dietary and lifestyle considerations to proactively ensure ongoing good health and slow down the aging process. This can be at various stages of life such as childhood, teenage, pregnancy, peri-menopause, menopause, andropause etc.
Naturopathy is guided by six foundational principles:
The Healing Power of Nature
Naturopathy embraces only proven, evidence-based, minimally to non-invasive, non-toxic therapies, treatments and remedies. |
First Do No Harm
Naturopathy acknowledges and works in harmony with the body's innate capacity to self-correct, self-balance, and self-heal. |
Treat the Cause, Not Only the Symptom
Symptoms are your body's way to signal deeper imbalances and naturopaths are committed to listening to rather than suppressing these signals. |
Treat the Whole Person, Not Only Their Disease
Naturopaths consider not only lab results, family history, and physical symptoms but also the mental, emotional, environmental, and spiritual factors that affect health. |
Education
Naturopathy places responsibility for wellness with the individual and emphasizes education and coaching to help clients address factors under their control. |
Prevention
Nothing works better for curing a disease than not getting the disease! Naturopaths focus on identifying risk factors and taking preventive measures to maintain health. |
Naturopaths understand that healing is more than dispensing a herbal remedy or nutritional supplement. Effective naturopathic treatment requires wisdom, knowledge, patience, persistence, compassion and good communication.
Naturopathic practitioners understand that degeneration is a fact of life - we lose some of our health potential with every passing day. It's the pace at which our bodies degenerate that we may influence through our daily choices. Naturopaths are committed to helping you slow down that pace by identifying and addressing your “soft spots” (or “weak links”) in the area of nutrient and lifestyle deficiencies (diet, hydration, rest, sunlight, exercise, etc.), toxicity and cellular damage.
Naturopaths will not try to diagnose a disease or indeed purport to be able to cure a disease. If, during a consultation, certain 'red flag' symptoms are highlighted, the naturopath will always refer the client back to the MD for further investigation. Naturopaths cooperate with all other branches of medical science, referring clients to other practitioners for diagnosis or treatments where appropriate.
